Build Score
55build score
Build Score grades how you built your teams — the shapes and stacks the data keeps rewarding. It breaks into four measured signals, each scored against the field. For each one: what the research says, where your book lands, and the one number for how well they line up.
Draft Capital
42vs fieldResearch says how each number of early picks (through Round 6) has actually advanced in Best Ball Mania. The number is what research says; the bar is where your teams land. Line them up: are your bars on the green rows?
- Across 2023–2025, early RB carries the steepest advance edge — the curve peaks around 3–4 RBs by Round 6.
- WR is a gentler curve: the field's best-advancing count sits near 3 WRs, tailing off on either side.
- Every early QB or TE costs advance rate — the field advances most with zero of each through Round 6.
- Because the field itself under-drafts early RB, the sweet spot is where an edge is still available.
+2.0ppadvance captured
Advance captured is the one number for how well your build lines up with the research: each count's advance rate, weighted by the share of your teams there. Your early-capital shape earns +2.0pp of advance vs the field. Most of the headroom is RB.

Advance rates: actual Underdog Best Ball Mania results, 2023–2025 — the share of entries that reached the playoffs at each build (field average 16.7%). Faded rows are <500-entry samples.
Your takeawayYour book clusters at 2 RB / 3 WR early. On RB you sit just below the 3–5 sweet spot — the biggest lever in the whole metric. On WR you land right in the spot. QB and TE both sit exactly where the research wants them.
Lineup Depth
37vs fieldLineup Depth values your finished QB-RB-WR-TE shape by how often that exact build has advanced in DraftKings best ball — the positional balance a lineup card can't show you, scored.
- Winning DraftKings builds anchor on 6 RB with 8–9 WR and 2–3 TE.
- The 3-6-8-3 shape carries the highest advance edge (+2.3); 2-7-8-3 the worst (-1.8).
- Dropping below 6 RB, or crowding to 4 TE, gives back advance rate.
- It's a small move with a big swing — a single roster slot moves you between rungs.
-0.2ppadvance captured
Same idea as Draft Capital: each final shape's advance-rate edge, weighted by the share of your teams that built it. Your shapes earn -0.2pp of advance vs the field, out of a +2.3pp ceiling (the 3-6-8-3 build). Nudging your weaker-rung teams up the ladder is the lever.
Rungs = the six measured shapes, best (+2.3) to worst (-1.8). Bar length = your teams on each; number at right = advance-rate edge.

Your takeawayMost of your 25 teams build outside the six measured shapes — each is graded by its nearest measured build. Moving them toward 3-6-8-3 (the +2.3 winning shape) is the lever.
Stack Quality · Regular Season
59vs fieldResearch says teams that stack their QB with his own pass-catchers advance at a higher rate. Each row is a stack pattern, how much the field runs it, its advance-rate lift, and the share of your teams that use it.
- The two patterns that carry real lift are the broad ones: any pass stack (+2.8pp) and QB + WR (+2.5pp).
- Deeper patterns — QB + WR + TE, QB + 2 WR — add only a fraction of a point on their own.
- A QB + RB pairing barely moves the needle (+0.3pp) — that pairing hardly correlates.
- Presence is table stakes; the separation is in stack depth and quality, not whether you stack at all.
+2.8ppadvance captured
Advance captured mirrors Draft Capital. You run a pass stack — the umbrella pattern worth +2.8pp — on 100% of teams (field 92%), capturing its full lift. You're maxed on presence; the remaining edge is stack depth, not whether you stack at all.

Your takeawayYou run a pass stack on 100% of teams and QB+WR on 100% — above the field on every pattern. You're maxed on presence; your remaining regular-season edge is adding depth to the stacks you already have.
Stack Quality · Playoffs
72vs fieldThis blends your regular-season stack spread with your Week-17 game stacks — same-team catchers plus opposing bring-backs — weighted 65% toward the finals. One shared blow-up in the title week is a six-figure score.
- Stacking one team is table stakes; titles come from covering several correlated game environments in the finals.
- Week-17 is weighted about 65% of this score — the week that actually pays.
- A game stack — your QB + catchers + the opposing bring-back — covers the whole game environment.
- Coverage value climbs to about 6 finals game-stacked players, then plateaus.
- The sweet spot is 4–7 finals game-stacked players per team.

Playoffs is a coverage signal, not a field advance-rate table — so its summary is where you land, not a captured pp. Your book averages 8.1 finals game-stacked players, right at the top of the 4–7 sweet spot; 10 of 25 teams sit inside it and most of the rest are just above.
